Lane Powell is pleased to welcome its newest Shareholder and Labor and Employment Attorney, Douglas Parker.

With a sophisticated labor and employment practice spanning over 35 years, Parker has earned the reputation as a trusted advisor and renowned litigator across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Parker is a management-side lawyer who practices traditional labor law and represents employers in litigation involving a broad array of employment claims, including wrongful discharge, wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, non-compete, and ERISA matters. He also handles union issues for employers, including representation and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, grievance and interest arbitrations, union election changes, and collective bargaining. Parker has represented employers across a variety of industries, including marine and air transportation, national restaurant and retail chains, leading Northwest-based scientific research and technology organizations, a large Alaskan telecommunications provider, Alaska Native Corporations, and companies in the mining, oil, and gas industries.

Parker is admitted to practice in Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, and because he represents employers across a wide variety of industries in these three states, he was attracted to Lane Powell’s platform with its well-established offices in Anchorage, Portland, and Seattle. “I am especially impressed with Lane Powell’s reputation in all of its markets for providing quality legal services, and I am delighted to be joining a team I have long admired,” Parker said.

Lane Powell is a natural fit for Parker, who has long-standing connections with Lane Powell’s labor and employment attorneys across its offices. Lane Powell Shareholder and Labor and Employment Attorney Paul Ostroff stated, “We are elated that Doug has decided to join Lane Powell. My experience working with him at a previous firm demonstrated his deep knowledge of labor law and his understanding of our clients’ best needs and interests. I am confident that Doug will continue to bring these invaluable skills to the service of Lane Powell’s clients throughout the West coast and beyond.”

Katheryn Bradley, Co-Chair of Lane Powell’s Labor, Employment & Benefits Team, stated, “Along with other attorneys in our Anchorage office, I have known Doug for many years as a talented traditional labor lawyer and strong employment litigator with an impressive client roster including private and public sector employers. Our Team looks forward to Doug joining us and bringing his deep experience and expertise to further complement our Team’s bench strength.”

Parker is consistently recognized for his work in distinguished industry lists and awards, including Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers. Parker received his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law, and his B.A., with high honors, from Oregon State University.

Lane Powell’s Labor, Employment & Benefits Team is one of the largest among Pacific Northwest law firms, comprised of 23 attorneys whose core practices focus on representing and advising management in labor and employment matters. The Team provides its diverse client roster with strategic advice and counsel on all labor, employment, benefits, and compensation-related matters and, when needed, defends them in litigation. Lane Powell’s attorneys have extensive experience serving clients with operations in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California, and a variety of states across the U.S. The Team has expanded over the last decade to meet the demands of its clients for timely and practical advice, and this need has only grown during the pandemic.
